Cookie Policy
Last updated 14 September 2026 · Version 1.1
This policy explains what we store on your device, why, and how you can turn it off. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to chainofdeeds.com and any subdomain we operate. The data controller is Chain of Deeds Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15529163), registered office 35 Ovington Square, London SW3 1LJ.
2. The law we follow
Cookies are governed in the UK by the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 ("PECR"), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Where a cookie also involves personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply as well.
From 5 February 2026 the rules changed. Some low-risk cookies no longer require your prior consent, but they do require clear information and a free and simple way to opt out. We have set our banner up on that basis.
3. What we use, and on what footing
Strictly necessary — no consent required, cannot be switched off
These make the site work. Without them you could not stay signed in, keep items in your bag, or complete a payment securely. They include your session identifier, your bag contents, your language choice, your cookie preference itself, and security tokens used to prevent fraud and cross-site request forgery.
Audience measurement — exempt from consent, but you may opt out
We use first-party analytics solely to understand how the site is used so that we can improve it: which pages are read, where people leave, whether the checkout is working. This data is used only by us and only in aggregate. It is not shared with third parties for their own purposes, is not used for advertising, remarketing or ad measurement, and is not combined with any advertising identifier.
Under the amended PECR this category does not require your prior consent. You may nevertheless refuse it at any time, free of charge, using the cookie banner or the controls in section 5. If you opt out we stop collecting it.
Preference — exempt from consent, but you may opt out
These remember choices you have already made, such as your language or display settings, so you do not have to set them again. They do nothing else.
Advertising and third-party tracking — we do not use these
We do not run advertising cookies, tracking pixels, remarketing tags, social media trackers or cross-site advertising identifiers. If that ever changes we will ask for your explicit opt-in consent first, and we will update this policy before doing so, not after.
4. Cookies set by others
Two services we rely on may set cookies of their own when you use them:
- Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention. These are strictly necessary when you make a payment. See Stripe's own privacy documentation for detail.
- Google Fonts — typefaces are requested from Google's servers, which discloses your IP address to Google. No cookie is set by us for this purpose. If you would prefer this not to happen, the fonts can be self-hosted; write to us and we will tell you the current position.
5. How to control cookies
- Our banner. Choose "Essential only" to refuse everything that is not strictly necessary. Your choice is stored for twelve months, after which we will ask again.
- Change your mind. Clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
- Your browser. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and browser-level or application-level controls are a valid way of signalling your choice under the amended PECR. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop the site working.
6. Changes
If we add a cookie, or change what an existing one does, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed.
7. Questions and complaints
Write to admin@chainofdeeds.com. If you are not satisfied you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
