Questions
Before you join.
The chain has no ceiling — it grows for as long as believers keep joining. At 100,000 members, the Battle of World Hunger begins and first contributions are taken — with 7 days' notice.
Is Chain of Deeds a registered charity?
No. For now, registered charity partners hold the funds. Nothing is collected for the food and water pledge until we reach 100,000 members.
When does my first payment come out?
£1 today. Nothing else. Your pledge is authorised on sign-up but not collected. Nothing moves until the network reaches 100,000 members. Then we email you seven days before the first collection. Then the same day each month, the day you registered. Cancel before it starts and nothing is ever taken.
What exactly does the £1 pay for?
Running the organisation: staff, technology, events, compliance, payment processing and independent auditing. It exists so that nothing has to be deducted from your pledge. That is what makes 100% possible.
What is the difference between the fee and the pledge?
The £1 network fee runs the organisation — staff, technology, compliance. Your food and water pledge is separate, and 100% of it goes into the projects.
Where will the funds be kept?
Nowhere yet. No pledge is being collected. It will not be collected until the network reaches 100,000 members. 100% of every pledge reaches the ground, with no deduction for administration by any party. Until then, members pay the £1 network fee only. The governance model is being finalised.
"Don't trust us. Audit us." — what does that actually mean?
It means exactly what it says. Chain of Deeds will be independently audited every six months by an external firm, and the full results of each audit will be published for the whole network to read. Not a summary. Not the parts that flatter us. The audit.
What are links?
Links are giving on top of your pledge. 1 link = 1p / 1 cent. You choose which registered organisations they go to — an orphanage, a school, a well.
Can I change or stop my pledge?
Any time, from your account. A change takes effect from your next payment. Nothing you have already given is affected.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, at any time. Sign in and choose Cancel membership, or write to admin@chainofdeeds.com. Cancelling stops all future payments and starts a 30-day window — your number can be reinstated any time in those 30 days. After that it is retired for good and never reissued, and your personal data is deleted (payment and tax records are kept for 6 years, as UK law requires). Payments already taken are not refunded. The network fee is non-refundable from the day you pay it, because that is the day you join the network and your chain number is issued.
What happens if my card fails?
We try 3 times over 3 days. If all 3 fail, your membership pauses until you update your card. Your chain number stays yours and everything you gave stays counted.
Is my chain number permanent?
Yes. It’s never reissued — not even after you cancel.
Who sees my name?
Only your first name, and only in two places: a gift page you share with the person you gave for, and a memorial page if whoever made it turns on “Show who gave”. Never your surname or email.
Where is my card kept?
With our payment provider, never by Chain of Deeds.
