The farm.
An irrigated farm in Gippsland, Victoria, one of Australia's main dairy and beef regions. It comes with 634 million litres of high-reliability water a year from the Macalister Irrigation District, two dams that recycle water, cattle yards, a hay shed and a workers' house. The paddocks are laid out for irrigation, so the grass grows all year. Bought once and held as waqf by a perpetual trust: it can never be sold, and the beef and milk it produces go to the people it serves. Accounts are independently audited every six months.
The water
634 million litres a year of high-reliability water shares, owned with the farm.
Held as waqf
Held by a perpetual charitable trust. Only a court can change it: the strongest lock of the five. It can never be sold. What it grows goes to the people it serves.
Who it feeds.
About 6,000 people a year, from beef and dairy. This is our estimate from the size of the farm and will be confirmed before the vote.
